hi, i have this older mower with a 3.5 horse briggs on it with the automatic choke. It was working fine. Yesterday I went to start it and the choke stays closed.I can move it freely with a screwdriver and it will start if i hold the choke open. how do i cure this problen, and how does it know when to open? thanx.

You'll need to replace the carb diaphragm. It opens the choke when the engine starts because of the engine vacuum.
