I have a large ugky slab patio that is in pretty good shape - two hairline cracks running in it that I plan to fill with concrete. It has a decent runoff slope but not great.

I want to put slate-like tiles on top of the slab. Can this be done? How would I go about doing it, is it as simple as mortar and grout? Shoudl I know anything else?

That's how it's done and shouldn't be a problem.
