I want to get a circular saw to cut/replace some old wood on the deck--any suggestions here?

There was a Craftsman 14amp circular saw on sale for $70...would this be good??

How are Craftsman tools?

craftsman tools are good. Dont see any problems there. For your little use the saw will perform just fine. It should also carry a 1 year warranty to I believe.

I would not recommend any cheap models of Skil.

I am a big fan of cordless tools and I use them for almost everything. They are portable and convenient, but expensive (the batteries seem to die after about 3 years and need to be replaced). Compared to my grandfathers olde Craftsman circular saw that I can plug in and cut all day long.

It's a funny call. If you use a circular saw very little I would get a corded model. If you use it a fair bit than I'd look at cordless. But if you are a contractor cutting all day long I'd go back to a corded model.
