Do you mean a 5108 hardwire zone expander? If so, the jumper settings depend on the version of the PC5210 alarm panel you have (the version number will be on the main chip, and possibly the wiring diagram on the inside of the system door).

stupid me! yes I do mean 5108 hardwire expander. The version is 2.0
Im from old school where you place a wire between something as a jumper.
it shows zones 9-12 on off on and zones 13-16 off off on. what im unclear about is how to physically set the jumpers. Thank you for any help you can give.

Actually, that's exactly what you are doing with the plug style jumpers, theres a metal conductor inside the little plastic clips. "on" is with the bridging plug on both pins of a jumper point "off" is with the bridge off (you store it by sticking it back on so that one side is hanging in mid-air).
To set this thing to zones 9-16, then you make sure that J1 is opened, and J2 and J3 are bridged (assuming your actual control panel is ver. 3.x or higher). Then you deal with programming.

Thanks for your help! The light in the old head is comming on but is still
a little dim. It shows it to be PC5108 version 2.0. Does that mean I use
Zones 9-12 with jumpers j1,j2,& j3 and zones 13-16 with j4, j5,&j6. If im
having such trouble with this, not much hope for programming. Thanks again!

No, you use the extra jumpers with the older version of the _alarm control_.
You have a version 2.0 of the PC 5108, what is the version of the Power 832 (PC 5010) itself?

zones 9 - 12 j1 on j2 off j3 on
13 - 16 j4 off j5 off j6 on then go in programming and do 902 ##
then you have to go into address 002 and define your zones 9 - 16
then address 203 and turn on 1 - 8
sounds like you already have the jumpers right you just need to define the zone types in 002 and turn them on in 203
