My outside Heil Units fan won't turn on and there is no humm. I pushed the blade in case it was a cap. prob. still wouldn't run. There is a test button on the wireing block which when I pushed the fan came on strong. I'm thinking the block is bad as the unit is getting power. any thoughts would be great--- jim

By block there outside do you mean the contactor. When you push it the fan comes on and the compressor also???

I didn't know what to call it so I used wireing block. It is where all the wires from inside the house and the wires from the fan and misc items in the outside unit are wired to. In the middle in a spring loaded switch which when I pressed made the fan come on and also the compressor(I think). I kinda think either it is bad or there might be corrosion on some terminals but am looking for your guidence-- jim

To check the contactor you need a volt meter to see if you are getting approxamitly 24 vac at the small control wires on the side of the contactor.
