Im 22 and just bought this Mobile Home. Came home from work and a/c is running outside, but its 91 degrees on the inside! Its a carrier single packaged heat punt unit model # 50zh024-060. I remember the old tenants told me animals had gotten up under the house and damaged parts of the duct work, but that they had repaired it.. Know i took the cover off and the blower is turning, the fan kicks on as well. So I got up under the house, I see know signs of new holes, just some ducttape where they had previously repaired it. I did noticed some ice on the lines and radiator inside the unit. So then I let it melt, and turned it back on. Cold air comes in the room thats closest to the a/c unit, but not quite weak, and none into the other rooms. So I go take the cover back off, and turn the a/c back on, then there is alot of air blowing into all the vents, but then its not real cold. Could this mean I have a blockage somewhere in the return line. Im not an a/c man, but I tried to think of everything I could. I live in Fl and it sure was hot today. I appreciate all the help.

Sincerely

Shawn

First, check the air filter. It should be in a box (usually 20"x12") in the floor. If filter is dirty, replace it. If no filter is in the box, you are in for big fun since it probably got sucked into the return duct & is hung up somewhere. They sometimes make it all the way back to the unit & get stuck in the duct connection collar or are stuck up against the evaporator coil.

Filters are fine, replaced them last week, when I moved in, and checked them today.

thanks

The ducts having been "repaired" previously makes me think they might be causing your problem. Once flex duct has be punctured, it can, for lack of a better description, "balloon" on the inside. Air gets between the liner & the insulation, pulls the liner away & causes a blockage. Your best bet is to replace the ducts. Be sure to use duct approved for mobile homes.
