I turned on AC yor first time this year when I got home. It has been on for a few hours and has lowered temp from 79 to 77 despite running almost the entire time. Outside temp maybe hit 80 today and is now in the mid 70s. Air coming out is cooler than room temp but does not feel that cold.

It's a 1,500 sf townhome I bought new last summer. Had immediate issues with the amount of air that came out but that was fixed after a couple of tech visits. They charged, added freon, and checked for leaks at that time.
Based on other messages, I did some limited checking. Copper pipe running into attic unit is cold, but outside copper (only saw one) is neither cold or wet.

Anyway, don't know if I need to call a tech or if it needs to run for a couple of days to get going. Any advice would be appreciated.

If you ran it for a few hours it should haved cooled the house to your liking if the temp outside was only 80...
You said in your post that you had it charged (freon) before and they also checked for leaks, was there any leaks and if so were they fixed?
You could be low on charge if your inside and outside units are both running.
I know this sounds silly but make sure that the thermostat is set to cool.
Might be a good idea to call a tech to take a look at it, a good time to service them being it's not as hot as it's going to get
