Hi!

The present location of the thermostat is in the living room. There are 2 vents in this room. One is on the opposite wall from the thermostat about 2-3 ft to the left. There is a lamp that sits on an end table, the top of the lamp shade is above the thermostat.

My question should the thermostat be in the hall way or does it matter. Does the location of the lamp have any affect on proper operation. The lamp actually blocks the air from directly hitting the thermostat?

In general, thermostats should be installed in an inside hallway away from any heat source, supply air vent, light, or window.

All I can say here is no you dont want a lamp by the tstat. You dont want the air from a register to blow on the tstat.I have even had where the tstat didnt work right and found that there was a TV on the other side of this inside wall that the tstat was on.
