What is the best way to install a tub drain in an acrylic tub? Does plumber's putty go under the drain ? Does the rubber washer go in the underside of the tub? Bought a tub drain kit but there are no instructions, please help.

First find out if plumbers putty if ok to use on your acrylic tub[probably not]. Some require silicone because it doesn't stain. The silicone or putty goes on the underside of the thing you screw on. Put on plenty so it oozes out all around the flange. Under the tub goes the fiber or rubber washer and then the metal washer will be last before it goes into the pipe. Do a google for tub drain for some pics.
