taffy, Welcome to the DIY Forums.
Since you didn't specify if its the drain pipes or water pipes, I am going to venture a guess that it is the toilets fill valve. It may be sucking air and causing the noise. Replace with a Fluidmaster 400A fill valve. They run about $6 and come with easy to follow instructions.
