I have a cinderblock shed that has a musty/damp odor. I'd like to store things there and set up a little workshop but I need to figure out how to get the smell out. It is unpainted so I figure the first thing to do is maybe paint with a basement waterproof paint? And what else should I do? Do those containers of dehumidifier stuff help at all?
Any suggestions are very welcome!

VENTILATION is the key. It probably smells because it has no air moving through it. Masonary walls draw moisture so your idea of using a basement paint or treatment have merit. Still, unless you have air movement, there will just be condensate on the walls. You may want to check on a fan such as one for a bathroom. Good luck.
