I want to add central A/c to a house with a finished attic. We are looking to buy an older home. It has no central a/c. It is a house we like a lot. The attic is finished and used as an extra bedroom. It has little closet space and a nice bathroom. Does it sound possible to add central A/C.

What does the home have now for heating?
I am guessing it has hot water heat?

I think the best thing to do is have a mini split system.. That way you can zone off the area pretty well.

Not knowing your floor plan, I sould suggest do a single unit on the main floor, next unt will be a single outdoor unit that can run two undoor coil.. One up stairs, and another in the attic area.

Call in some hvac companys and get 3 bid for the job. Make sure they run a heat load on the home for the size AC unit you need.
No way would I put in a single condenser in a home with two coils . It dont pay . In very large building's yes they work very well. But not in a small home.
