Need advice.
I have inter-city furnace installed 1992. GUI125A020IN with 3.5 ton Arcoaire A/C.
Noticed small leak between top of furnace and where ACoils mount to it upon turning on A/C this spring.
Determined drip tray is rusted out on left side and it drains from right side. Drain is not stopped up.
I can remove the humidifier on the above duct section to view.
It uses upflow cased coils.
I have good access to the unit.
Can the part be obtained and can a regular slip in a new condensor water drip tray without having to completely remove. i.e. cut freon lines?
Or is this a pro HVAC job.
With a 14 year old unit, it would seem I should have some years before having to replace entire unit.
Thanks,
Derek

I closed one other post of yours. Stay in the same post
14 years old AC get a new one inside and out. To put a new coil and pan inside not worth it. Get inside and out new. better seer on new unit.

I'm going to respectfully disagree with Ed at least until we know where you live. In the South with a long cooling season, I might agree. Up North with a short cooling season, I'd say replace the pan. Normal pan cost <$100. Labor if the lines don't have to be cut, ± 1 hr.

OK, Guess I'm already off to a bad start with Ed, with the multiple posts and all..........lol
I am in Omaha NE
Pretty short season.
Maybe I will get local company to come do an annual clean and freon check and while here get an estimate from them.

typically with A/C and Furnaces they have a life of 20 years and replacing the drain pan under the coil may be difficult this depends on how rusted the mounts are and if you would damage the coil or not.
Check to see if you can get the pan alone or if you need to get the coil assembly complete.
Take a shop vac to the pan and suck out all the water. Pull out the coil and detach the pan.
If the coil needs to be changed then go with the pro's.
