Hello. And thanks in advance for any info you can provide.

We've gutted out upstairs bathroom and are planning on putting an acrylic shower in place of the tile/old cast iron tub in the alcove. The space will fit a 60" x 32" tub and the height of the sofit is about 86".

We were originally looking at Maax acrylics as some friends got one and they got good reviews. Unfortunately, the guy putting it in said he needs a 60" wide tub with side flange, and Maax only makes 62" tubs with a front flange.

Can anyone reccomend another model that'd do well in our alcove? I'd prefer one that is as high as the soffit, the Kohler we saw is only 76" which means green board exposed which we would rather not deal with.

Thanks

AW

First, I'd check on the 62" dimension. The style you are looking at is full height and I think laps over the opening on the side. The opening may only need to be 60" wide.

The thing to do is get the installation instructions from Maax and go over it with your contractor. I just checked the Maax installation guide on their website and it indicates different size options for 1 & 3 part Studio and Maestro units. You should be able to get one of the 4 which will work in your alcove.
