Need your expert opinion on whether I have a bad keypad or just I do not know how to install it.

Here is the problem. There is nothing display on the keypad after the installation.

Background info. I have a new Vista 20P panel because the old one quit. I did enable the 2nd key field and I did try to set the keypad address to the 2nd keypad value. The 6150RF has no "Tamper Switch", and I was told it is a newer version. The keypad does appear response to the [1][3] programming mode based on the 3 beeps I heard after applying power. After I enter value and press key it does beep back to me (which I guess it took the value). The keypad back lit are working and LCD back lit seems to work as well.

Here is something that is interesting about the keypad:

[1][3] key together always get me into the programming mode. The manual says need to do that within 30 sec of power up. Does that sound a problem to you? Maybe I never exit the programming mode?

Also I have enable the wireless field *24 and now I got "check 100" message on keypad 1.

I hope it is just something simple. Thank you so much for the help.

From the installation manual:
"Pressing the [1] and [3] keys 30 seconds or more after applying power allows you to enter the User mode.
This mode provides a means to enable and disable individual local wireless keys (useful if, e.g., a user accidentally loses a wireless key). See the User Guide for procedure instructions."

Check 1xx

"indicates that communication between control and a zone expander or wireless receiver is interrupted, where “xx” is the device address. Check the wiring and DIP switch settings on the units."

I don't think you needed to mess with *24 unless you have some specific hardware (bi directional devices). I think that if you put it back to the default of 00 you will eliminate your check 100 issue unless you actually have a wiring or other programming problem.

You can always get into user mode it just has to be 30 secs after power up for keypad programming So if this is the second keypad you have you will press 1 3 together should get 2 dashes then 2 zeros alternating then press 1 then 17 * that will address it if you already have another keypad at address 16 . do you have another receiver installed? two receivers will cause that ck 100 if that is the case you can go back into programming(powerdown - back up) press 1 3 together the 6 0 * that will disable the keypads receiver
