I am trying to repair a leaking Delta bathroom sink faucet.I can't seem to loosen the top dome.I used channel locks pliers and it won't budge. All I've accomplished is to remove some of the chrome finish. Any good suggestions for removing or am I better off replacing?

There is a nylon cover under that dome that is seized in place. I have found the very easiest way to remove this is to heat it up with a torch until it is real warm. It will twist right off, but you will need to replace it.
When you get this off, and remove the round metal ball, you will find 2 little rubber seats in the bottom of the faucet valve (these are the hot and cold seats). When you pull those out, there are little springs that are either conical or straight, be sure you use the same type of spring. The other parts are the same, but the springs are different for the old style valves. This is why both are still sold.
Good luck with your project....

I can unscrew the nylon piece. It comes right out.It is the top chrome piece that I can't get loose.I think the threads must be corroded.I used big channel lock pliers and it won't budge.

Hi, Use a torch or heat gun. Not red hot, a very little heat will do the trick.
