After discovering no hot water available at the faucets, I inspected the water heater. Water was leaking form the top, and it seems from the "FLUE". I turned off the cold water inlet to stop the leak. What options or ideas before purchase of a new water heater.

The tank is definitely defective; it is leaking inside the flue chase inside the tank.
