Good Day,
I live in a condo unit (12 year old building) with two sleeve openings in the wall for A/C units. One sleeve already has an A/C unit (original to the building and works well), but I am having a heck of a time trying to find an new A/C unit for the other sleeve.
The problem is that all the sleeve / through-the-wall A/C units that I see are 24" wide, but the sleeve in my unit is approx. 23", certainly less than 24". My questions:
1. Is anybody aware of a manufacturer that makes wall A/C units that are smaller in width ?
2. Will the installation of a window unit work if leave some space around the sides and top ?
If I can't find a wall A/C unit, then the only other option that seems feasible is a portable A/C unit that I can vent through the existing sleeve.
Any thoughts or suggestions ?
Thanks.
John

No cause they cant get the intake air for the back side to the compressor. You cant block the sides where the air comes in it. Forget about the top

What is the brand of the original unit that's still there? Maybe check for models of that brand that might fit. I know Fedders made a lot of thru-wall units, which are still available.
As Ed said, don't try using a window unit, even with some space around the sides and top, it won't perform well.

Thank-you both for your replies. Fedders makes about 5 or 6 wall units...but they are too wide for my sleeve. At any rate, a few days ago I purchased a portable A/C unit. It should do the trick !
