I have unplugged the phone line to my system and stopped the monitoring but the system keeps giving a trouble every month and I finally unplugged the unit and unplugged the battery. I found the programming paper with all the codes on it. Would someone please tell me how to program the system to turn the dialer off and stop the self tests? Write me here or at ooicu2@gmail.com and I will send you a copy of the paper with the codes on it. Thanks, Sam

Is this a "Safewatch Plus" or a "Safewatch Plus RF"? The former has relatively flat control cabinet.

I don't think it's an RF model. It was installed in 1991 and the control panel is about an inch thick. I can send you a pic if you need it.

We'll go with the notion that you have the original Plus (this is actually an ITI Caretaker + in ADT clothing).
Remove the main control cover (there's like 4-5 screws on the top and bottom edge).
Turn the power switch on the bottom center off. Make sure the tamper bypass switch on the left side is set to "normal"
Turn power on. The keypad should display a power up key test routine. Ignore it until the display shows "Program Mode"
Press [Bypass] until the display shows "Phone Number"
Press [Command] This should erase the phone number and jump to "Phone Format".
Replace the cover, and the system should return to run mode.
A lot of the communication functions of these panels were designed for remote programming, and it's possible that ADT crippled local programming functions. As best I can tell, deleting the phone number should be all it takes to turn the system into a local only.
(The few times I've worked with these things was to remove them for a modern replacement).

No, that's not the type of system. Here's the one I have http://www.adt.com/wsresi/images/uploads/manual_safewatch_plus.pdf

A-ha! _Entrepreneur_ was the important word. This system is actually a Moose Z-900 (which is the installer manual you want if you plan to do more than disable the dialer).
You threw me with the "inch- thick". That's the _keypad_. The control is a little beige box in a closet somewhere (about a foot square).
Either way, to turn off the dialer function, do the following:
Press and hold 9 until you hear 3 beeps
Enter 96321 all leds should flash (if they don't we have to enter program mode a different way)
Enter 47# (two beeps)
Enter 0* (2 beeps)
Enter * * to return to run mode.
This should turn off the dialer.

I tried it and it works great! Thanks. Also found an installer manual which explains a heck of a lot of all of this. Thanks for all of your help!
