Hello, First time on forum. Has anyone seen the condenser filters? what an awsome idea. I was looking on a web site and came across them. Using the filters will keep your condenser clean of bugs, cottonwood and any other airborn stuff. What do you thik about this?

Never heard of such thing... What's the address of the web??
It maybe ok on some unit.. just as long it doens't affect the air flow.

Hello Jay, The web address is www.airsolutioncompany.com It looks like there is no problem with air flow, I guess if you look at it ,if the coils get pluged up with bugs, leaves or cotten wood thats restricting the air flow, right? I might try one on my air conditioner.Looks easy to put on and clean.

Id say dont do it. Ill also say I bet it will kill any warranty that you have on the unit. All paper work that comes with the high side condenser will say keep clear 18" or more around the coil. Put it around your unit clean and Ill bet the head goes up.In a short time of build up of dirt on the filter will make the head go up so that means more amps and a higher electric bill. Just about one time a year with a water hose does the job.
My .02 cents

First Timer. Hello
I spoke to the manufacture of those filters and they sound like the ticket. They said they do not hurt the air flow and they have testing that shows it.
Hey Flordia, This might work for all the bugs down that way :thinker:
I spoke to somebody by the name of Randy, If you want there number I will be happy to post it. I'm also thinking about buying one, They have a sizing chart on there web site.

The outside condenser is not that hard to hose off now and then. Ill bet you lose any warranty on the unit with that on. I know Id not back a lost compressor with it on. Thats like one of the best tools we have on the trucks is a small AXE just to open things up around the compressor so it can get air.Another is bug spray here and all over the bugs and ants dont get into the coil there they get up into the relays all the time and burn them out on the points. So the filter wont help there. Ill bet they didnt say with the temp the same and the charge the same how much the AMP draw went up when you put that on the unit. Another thing bad for the units is the oak pollen and Ill bet that will get through the filter there and on to the coil.

Hey Ed, I dont think they are all that bad. According to the Manuf. this filter does stop the cottonwood. Looking at there web site that is one of there selling points. Makes sence to me. it has to help

I'm with Ed. I think if you do it you will be sorry. Manufacturers can claim a lot of things but in the real world... If I'm trying to sell a product I can develop a test which will prove my product is the greatest thing since sliced bread.

If you've ever dealt with cottonwood you'll try just about anything. If you use it you need to keep it changed/cleaned constantly and I for sure wouldn't use one unless I had a manual reset high head safety control on the condensor. I would personally rather go out and hose it through every few days than add a restriction.
