I have some under deck lighting, eight (8) fixtures to a line, two (2) lines I have hung under my deck. So, total of sixteen (16) fixtures of 40W each equals 640 watts. I want to be able to control the brightness with a dimmer switch. Is there a plug-in dimmer switch, that I can plug into my outside 120v receptacle, and then plug the string of lights into this? Thanks for any information.

Dimmer switches come in dozens of different kinds, including a variety of ones designed to dim things that are plugged in. But make sure you get one rated for 1000 watts. However, I would encourage you to use more conventional and permanent wiring solution rather than just plugging these things in. The proper solution is only slightly more work than the goofy solution. You didn't give the details, but I'll bet your solution involves some suspect wiring plans.
