My bathtub was replaced 2 years ago (fiberglass) and in the last few months I've noticed it creaks when I step in the front half closest to the drain area. What causes this? is it indicative of a problem? and if so, what sort of contractor would I call to look at it as it may not be a plumbing issue but a construction issue?

If the plumber/contractor did not lay down a bed of mortar underneath the tub before installing, then quite possibly this is the problem.
The unit is flexing, and this will lead to hairline spider cracks that will eventually damage the tub permanently.
