We had central air installed (thanks for all the advice) and the inspection is Wednesday. We also had our fuses switched to circuits and upgraded the panel to 200amps.
So what can we expect from Mr inspector? How long will it take and does he do more than look?

It should take 15 min tops.. Here, they check to make sure right gauge wire is used, wired up right, system is grounded, and condoit been used.
Also they make sure the job was done safe, and looks safe in the long run.

Here in NC we have to have two permits one for Mechanical equipment and ducting and one for electrical.
That takes two different inspectors and it normally takes 10 to 15 minuites.
As long as it is an inspector that has some experience then it takes a short time but if they are new it seems to take longer.
Some inspectors that have been around just take a short look and if something doesn't feel right then they go through it with a fine tooth comb.
But we have been doing this for years and it has to be something really out fo the ordinary and if that is the case then we request a pre inspection t otell us what it will take to pass.
But I always applaude a job by the book.

The inspector said that there is insulation in the drip pan so the a/c guy has to come back and clean it out.

Here in NC when we purchase a permit we also purchase an inspection for final inspection when we change out equipment only and sometimes 2 inspections for a new construction which includes a rough in inspection and a final inspection or three when doing gas piping in a wall or special circumstances.
It is wise to check into it monday morning.
