Hi All...my first post!
I have an open living room that flows into the dining room, that on one small section above a door way has no 'natural' separation point (moulding, trim, etc.) defining the rooms. Thus, where the LR ends & DR begins, there is a section on the shared wall where one color ends & the other color begins. The colors are similiar in color (yes, the wife's idea, so we need to keep both colors!). I thought about putting a small piece of moulding to make a separation point, but no one likes that idea, and I'm not crazy about it (actually calls attention to itself). Should I just leave it or does anyone have an idea?
Thanks!

As far as I know there are only 3 options. Leave it like it is, put up moulding or paint the wall one color from corner to corner. Since it is in your best interest to keep your wife happy, you might just leave it as it is. :)

A saw a deco mag a few years ago that showed a space like this. They left a wide gap between the two colors (white in between), and hung a piece of artwork in the gap. Looked great!

it should never have been done. you should only change colors at inside or outside corners. the entire wall should've been painted one color that would've worked in both spaces, then the remaining walls could've been different colors.

moulding will make it worse.

the picture idea might have worked on a larger wall area, but a picture above a doorway would look bizarre. you might be able to hang a large dried floral arrangement (spray) above the door & hide most of it though.

the only consolation is that the 2 colors are similar, instead of very contrasting. so maybe it's not glaringly noticeable.

at the very least, the "line" of color change should've been directly above the vertical door moulding on the right or left, but not smack in the middle of the door. where is it?
