I just took out my toilet and my pipe is pretty rotted, some of the steel came off really easy two steel flaps also were rotted off. When I look down the pipe it looks like there is a steel insert, but from the basement it looks like one pipe. what do I have to do to fix it.

sports, Welcome to the DIY Forums.
What you refer to as steel is probably cast iron. You may have to go back to the main drain line and replace with PVC pipe. There are fittings and connectors made to switch from one material to the other. Good luck with your project. and reply back for any other questions or help.
