Recently we painted our living room and hallway Mesa Sand in satin finish. We were looking for a neutral color but it appears to be pink most of the day because of the lighting. Instead of repainting the entire area, I thought about changing the appearance by using a glaze or use a textured roller with another paint color. If we go with the second option what would be better lighter or darker paints? The walls are textured themselves and the paint job is a good one. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks BeepsMom :coffee:

why don't you try changing your lightbulbs first? there are lightbulbs that give off a very yellow cast, and others that provide a cleaner, "blue" light. i'd go that route first before messing up a good paint job. trying to add another paint color will be a real guessing game. if you do decided to go the repainting route, you'd be better off simply selecting another paint & repainting the whole area - it'd be the same amount of work.

Annette is right on about the lighting. 30yr ago I painted my parents living rm with a bunch of leftover paint mixed together. It appeared to be a yellowish gold. On the walls it would be yellow with sun coming in the windows, green with no lighting and gold with the lights on. Paint can also appear to be different in color depending on what furniture, rugs and drapes are in the room.

I often find myself replacing bulbs or suggesting to homeowners to change shades and fixtures because of "lighting issues" after a painting job
Most people don't think of it or have been living with it for so long they don't realize the lighting is off/yellow/poor/greenish/harsh/etc.
