Have walls covered in HEAVY, BAD texture. Was told that it would be easier to fill-in than remove. Is that true? Is this do-able for an amateur? What is the material that you skim coat with? Any other tricks? Thanks.

Just read a previous post on the same topic. Joint compound watered down, several coats. Thanks

I would scrape/sand the texture first. Then apply skim coat. The biggest difference between a pro applying the skim coat and a first timer is the amount of time it takes to get it right. :)
