I just bought a home today and will need to do something to fix up the tub. I was thinking about painting it rather then doing the bathfitter at this time, I'm assuming painting will be much more cost effective.
Has anyone painted a tub, what paint did you use & was it hard to get it too look nice?

Bathtubs can be painted with kits made more or less specifically for this purpose. They are usually two part epoxy based kits which involve mixing etc.Obviously the tub would need to be well cleaned and free of any soap, rust, mildew, and residue from cleaning. Also I have been told you'll need proper ventilation as the paint has a high or higher odor.I have never personally used one of these kits and have heard a variety of comments.I would use a higher end pure bristle brush.Do not attempt this with spray paint including epoxy based spray paint. You'll lilely need acetone or simular solvent for any clean up which will add to the odor element.Perhaps some of the painters that frequent this board could give you more specifics.

thanks for your help, from other things I've read I'm guessing it's not as easy as I was hoping :wall:
