I am getting ready to add a 12' x 12' deck to my new house.
Some info: The deck will be added to my bay which is 12' wide x 2' bump out with french doors. The bay sits approximately 6' above ground due to the english basement. I already have a 2x12 deck ledger with flashing attached. House joists are 2x12 cantilevered 2' for the bay.
Deck material will be Trex with 6' stairs to grade.
Questions: Would attached or free standing be best? (Caveat, I would like the space under the deck to be somewhat usable for storage). Do they make joist hangars to attach joists at a 45 degree angle to my ledger? Any foreseeable issues with attaching a deck to already cantilevered floor joists/rim board?
Thanks and any info is appreciated.
