Hi, I am hoping that someone can guide me in the right direction. I woke up this morning and no hot water at all. The water bill is paid and we even double checked that. My daughter says that the water heater is starting to leak. Could that be the problem? We have forced heat and central air.
I don't know if there is something that we can do or do we have to call either pseg or a plumber?
Please advise
Thanks in advance,

Need some clarification here. Are you saying you have NO water or no HOT water? You may have a pilot light that went out if you have a gas heater. You may have tripped a circuit breaker if it is electric. Find where the leak is coming from. Is it the tank leaking or the pressure/temp relief valve? Let us know for more info. Good luck.

I have water just no hot water. I am pretty sure it is a gas heater. I only rent the place but the landlord is a complete ass and won't do anything. I know we have forced heat and central air and the cooking stove is gas
The water is not pouring out just I am hoping some excess. I will check the fuse box when I get home.
Where would I find the pilot on the unit?
Thanks for the help

There should be a metal panel that just lifts off and that is where the pilot is located. On the control valve there should be a RED knob that has 3 positions: Off, Light pilot and on. Take a long match (or even a piece of spagetti noodle) and light it, stick it in where the pilot is and turn the knob to pilot. Press the knob in and light the pilot. Hold the knob in for one minute and make sure the pilot lit. Release the knob and turn to on. The main burner should kick on. It may be a bad thermocouple and if so, the pilot will go back out. Then the thermocouple will have to be replaced. Good luck.

Hi, we got the pilot to lite. Hopefully it will stay lit. How long will it take for the water to now get hot? Approximately?

Call the landlord. It's his problem. Like it or not, he IS required to provide things like an adequate heating system and hot water system for his tenants. If he, for whatever reason, refuses to fix or replace the WH, there are ways you can force him to do so. It's a health and a safety issue, and both your local bldg. dept. and health dept. can help if needed.

I still think it's the thermocouple. If you do not know how to change it, advise your landlord. It is his duty to get it fixed. Good luck.

How much would it cost to have that done? Approximately? If my landlord gives me a hard time, I just want back up on it. We are planning on being out of the place by July 1st, but would like hot water until then. So If he gives me a hard time is there any temporary ways that we can live with until we move out. He is currently selling the house and I don't want to help him in anyway in his sale.
Thanks
