What kind of paint do I use to paint my kitchen laminate counter tops and I do have to put a sealer over it when I am done?

I would advise against painting laminate counter top. It is not normally painted. If you absolutely have to paint it use a good oil enamel, but I'm not sure how well it will adhere as the laminate was designed to resist anything sticking to it.

In order to assure a good bond, you need to scuff the laminate by lightly sanding all surfaces you are going to paint with 80 or 100 grip paper. Clean off the dust, prime and paint.

diycm,

I will add my voice to the do not paint laminate side.

I guarantee that the finish will not last a month.
If you insist on painting them pick a color that is identical to the original color so the scratches and chips are less noticable.
