I just recently purchased a new fixture for my lamp post in front of my house. When I took off the old fixture i made note of the connections. I then hooked up the new fixture the same way that the old was. ground-ground, red-black, and white-white-white. I expected it to work, and it does, except that it does not turn off. Is is possible that I may have damaged the photocell, or that I have it hooked up wrong?? I am not sure what is wrong, the photocell worked the night before. Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated.

A little more information would help, but if it's a "sensor" light that goes on when you come near it, the test switch may be set to "test" wich overrides the electric eye.

Its not a security light that turns on with motion, but rather a light that turns on when it becomes dark enough.

What type of light? Some sensors won't work on flourescent fixtures. It is possible the sansor is damaged. Connect the old light and see if it still works.
