I want to remove an old rotary dial wall phone. Circa 1980. How do I remove the phone from the wall. I've tried giving it a hefty slam from the bottom to left it off whatever holds it in place. No go. How are these phones (vertical rectangular box) attached? Is there a clip or something I need to get to? Thanks. :wall:

probably screwed directlry to the wall (before wall jacks )

if its narrow look for a thin plastic piece with a peice of paper for the phone number , should be a screw underneath take the plastic case off and look for screws holding the chassis to the wall

the wider phones had a clip on the bottom in the ceter if memory serves me

in any case the plastic case needs to come off so you can get to the mounting screws

when you get it off you can hook the wires to a wall jack and mount any new phone

your right, if its the trendline style, the screws are under the desi plate (plastic cover for the phone number).. if its the older large rectangle phone, look under the handset cord where it comes out of the phone, there will be a metal clip up there, push it back with a screwdriver and the cover will come off, then take the screws out of the backplate holding it to the wall...

:D Thanks. Got the old phone off the wall and rerouted the line through to another wall (another room). And...the phone works!!!
