Hi,

I am thinking about putting up a fence around my outdoor AC unit (condenser?) for hiding it somewhat. My plan now is to have the fence approx 1 ft away from the unit, and only on 2 sides. I am also going to leave space between the fence boards (to increase airflow) and the "fence" will only be as tall as the A/C unit itself.

Will this cause airflow problems with the A/C? If I used lattice instead of fenceboards, would that help? Has anyone done anything similar? This isn't a necessary thing, but the A/C unit is right next to the patio so I was trying to think of a way to hide it (or at least lessen its appearance). To help you visually, the fence will run off of the house, between the patio and unit, then extend at 90 degrees across the "front" of the unit (between the unit and the yard).

Thanks in advance for any thoughts or suggestions.

You want 18" all around the unit for air .About 3' on conpressor door side to work on it.

thanks! the door side and another side will be completely open.
If I leave 18" of space between the fence and the unit, is it necessary to leave a larger than normal space between the fence boards?

Thanks again.

No that should be OK.
