Walls and Ceilings - a couple of questions for a weird project/repair

:confused: My house was originally a 3 bedroom 1 bathroom house. It was probably built in the 60's or 70's. My uncle added an addition to the house consisting of a living room and a master bedroom. My problem is that my room has a huge window because it was the back of the original house. When the addition was added, the window was never removed. So now there's a window between my bedroom and my parents' bedroom.
Now that I have explained the situation, my questions are:
1. What is my wall probably made of?
2. How should I fill the space where the window is once I have removed it?

Sorry this is so long. Any little tips would help.

Should be a good DIY job for sure. There should be a header over the window there so just take the whole window frame out. then cut 2X4 as studs to go from the sill up to the header and just wall it in drywall or what ever. Might want to put insulation in the wall there .Just for sound is all as its an inside wall bed room to bed room.

I'm sorry, I forgot to inform everyone that I am a DIYer Beginner, so I really don't understand any of the terms like "header" or "studs"...I'm trying to learn though so bear with me people!!! bye bye :o

After the window is out. Get some 2X4 and cut them to fit in the hole where the window was. Fit tight from the bottom to the top of it. Nail them in 16" on center.

This looks like a job for metal studs. Very diy newbie friendly. Take out the window as described above. Screw a track on the top and bottom and fill with studs you cut with snips. You don't even need to screw them in never mind toenailing studs. Fill it with insulation bats if you like. Do a search for metal stud framing [google] and click tha second result' Hopefully
