I have been asked to bid a minor remodel of a small (30sq ft) bathroom for a coworker....tile floor, new sink, new commode, and misc minor updates....where do I start?

thanks

This has the potential to become something you both may regret.
Offer to do the research and offer to help, at a modest compensation.

cluckster,

If you need to ask where to start, then I would agree with Snoonyb, that you may not have enough experience to do this. If I am wrong, I apologize.

You can do a web search of how to estimate, buy some books or talk to some local contractors. This is a matter that could ruin any relationship if things don't go right. This means what you charge, regardless of how reasonable you may be or how low you might do it for, may mean you could be working many hours and still not satisfy yourself in the area of what you get paid and what they will pay you.

It is best that if you do this, that everything be placed in writing - no verbal agreements. Treat this at a professional level to avoid any problems. Don't forget about the building permit either.

It might be best to refer them to someone who has the experience, the license and insurance to avoid any conflicts.

Hope this helps!
