Hi,

I'm looking at putting a Champion sun room on the north side of my house. The north side of the house looks out onto a small lake and it would be right off my kitchen through existing french doors. There will be a deck on top which is accessible from my bedroom.

Just wondering what people think of having a sunroom on the north side? Would you think it will be usable for a good part of the year? I'm in Denver, Colorado. It gets cold but we get a ton of sun!

Also... any thoughts on Champion and/or pre-fab sunrooms in general?

Thanks,
Gary

Gary,

I'm not familiar with the Champion brand of sunrooms, so I can't comment on them.

As far as a sunroom on the north side of the house, it depends on what you will be using it for. If you are using it to start plants in, you'll have a slightly shorter season. If it's more of an extention of your kitchen -- a place to enjoy your morning coffee -- not a problem.

These rooms fall into 2 catagories -- those that have heating and cooling in them, and those that don't. Tons of differences between the two and the way that they are constructed, and in most places, they way that they affect your property taxes. Most common mistake people make is to try heating or cooling a room that wasn't designed to be heated or cooled.

Thanks Lefty,

Yep... coffee and paper in the morning... that's what I'm picturing. No heating or cooling but might open the doors and try to warm it up a little from the house if needed.

Going to talk to the guy a little more seriously on Saturday.
