I want to use a porch/floor paint on my previously stained deck. Is it possible and what is the best approach?
Thanks

Should be no problem to paint over stain. Depending on the type of stain that is on there now you will probably have to prime first. Use a good exterior oil based primer. You are then ready to paint.
Keep in mind that paint and stain wear totally different. Stain doesn't peel but wears gradually and only needs cleaning to re stain. Paint has the possibility of peeling and will probablly require scraping and priming before repainting. Paint can also be slicker when wet. I'm not trying to talk you out of painting, only want to make sure you make an informed decision because after you paint there is no turning back with out complete stripping of the paint. :)

Before going the paint route, do look at the solid stains on the market.

I would prefer a solid stain as it will hold up better. The problem is I am painting/staining the concrete skirt around my pool at the same time. I am hoping to use the same color if not the same material. stain the concrete, stain the deck or paint the concrete and paint the deck? which do you folks think is a better route. I also want to add the non skid additive but I believe that can only be done in the paint scenario.

I have the same situation. I have pressure washed, sanded, and scraped the
present surface which has had stain and paint on it.What a mess!!
My concerns are still peeling and,as stated, painted surface being slippery.
wondering if i could just add some play sand to paint when applying?

I think I am going to restain the deck and try to compliment the color of the cool deck/concrete paint
