Help. About seven years agoI installed a patio door with the help of a friend. It is located at the same level as the wooden deck outside. There has never been a problem with this door. About five yeasrs ago I had the deck extended and an addition put on. I told the contractor the match the othere side of the deck and keep the door level with the deck and the interior of the addition. After five years and five different contractors this door still leaks. The leaky door is a steel exterior door not a patio door. Is there a difference in consstruction that would make it tend to leak? Should I put in a patio door. This door has been removed and reflashed top to bottom and caulked and recaulked. The water seem to come in behind the brickmold and seep into the space between the door casing and the knig stud. Once it starts wicking the pace of the leak increases. I haven't been able to finish the interior of this project due to this leak. Any advice will be appreciated.
