I've built my porch floor with a slight slope away from the house, to allow water to run off. When I build the roof over it, should the beam follow that same slope (keep all post heights the same), or should it be level? If it's level, the posts at the back (nearest the house) will be shorter than the ones in front. It's probably only an inch or so, but I'd really prefer to keep the posts at the same height.

Let me know what you think. Thanks...

the only thing you can gauge if by is appearance. structurally, it makes no difference and i doubt if you eyes can see the difference of only one inch or even two. the porch roof will obviously slope so a couple degrees more of a slope is a non issue. bottom line, do what ever you think looks good.
