I recently bought a Operating T-stat, hi-limit T-stat and cutoff kit to repair heating problems my Whirlpool dryer (2k) was having. I turned on the dryer w/o the ductwork and everything seemed to work ok. I shut down and was about to put everything back in place when in all my wisdom I tried to take out some lint stuck behind the screw of the OP t-stat. I used a screwdriver and the dryer did not like that :wall: Sparks flew. I had forgotten to unplug the dryer before committing this stupid act. Continuity checks on all fuses and T-stat were fine I plugged the dryer checked the closed the door and it did not start.
I checked the outside circuit breaker and turned it on and off.
I did a voltage check on the outlet but did not receive a measurement (stuck it in as far as possible. The probes I have are small but sufficient in measuring regular outlets. (am I measuring wrong?)

It is a 4 prong outlet and I know the 220-110 combos I should be getting. I dont know how to fix this. It is a new house so they could do it. I am trying to do this for my parents and I leave in four days so please help me out.

Turn off breaker...if surface mounted receptacle remove plastic cover, inspect, re-energize and test directly on contacts.

If flush mount, use same procedure, pull outlet from wall, re-energize and test for both phases (220V)
