Hey all,

Problem here - I smelt this overwhelming burning smell coming from the lower level of my suite (i live in a 2 floor apartment). I went to check it out, and the smell seemed to be coming from the kitchen. Checked the stove, not on so no problem, no other appliances running except for the refrigerator.

I pulled it out from the wall to look at the back of it and I don't see anything in particular however I'm pretty sure that's where the burning smell is coming from. It has that burnt electronics / appliance kind of smell, if that makes any sense. The fridge is still working fine though, and now the smell seems to have stopped coming out. There's no smoke or anything.

Anyhow I've called the appliance repair shop to come take a look, however they can't come over until the landlord authorizes it. And of course my landlord lives on the other side of the country and I can't get a hold of him.

Does anyone have any idea what this could be? Or can confirm that it is coming from the back of the fridge?

Like I said, I'm pretty sure it's the fridge because it's the only appliance that's "on"

Any info would be greatly appreciated, if anyone's got any experience with this.

It's an older Kenmore fridge.

Thanks!

It can be the heater strips . Feel like around the door edge and see if its hot there. Should be like just warm, that is where they are . They like keep the metal warm so it dont sweat. Also there is a small blower fan down by the compressor is that alright and runs. If all the condenser coils are under the fridge there are they clean???
