Re-finishing a hardwood floor in a bedroom. Floor in good shape, just wanted a cleaner look on the floor. Here is what I did: Sanded with orbital floor sander, stained then a coat of poyurathane. During the poly coating, I noticed the poly was coating somewhat different. Part of the floor had an even coat and then other parts was "spotty", not coated evenly. Where did I go wrong and what is the "fix". Any thoughts????

If you sanded all the way to bare wood it is probably fine and you just need a couple more coats. If you didn't sand all the way to bare wood then that may be your problem. Let us know if it was sanded to bare or not.

Usually a minimum of three coats of finish are applied. Finish usually requires screening between coats. Make sure finish is properly stirred to assure even sheen. Read and follow label directions. Allow ample time between coats for drying. Temperature and humidity levels affect drying time. Time limit on label is a general guideline.
