Sorry for the long message - but I'm drowning in the newbie ocean
I have Power632 with a single LCD5500z keypad.
----------------------
I have a trouble light on the keypad. Tried *8 ic *2 (or was it *3?) to display system fault...but display is blank.
------------------------
The wireless receiver (433) was installed in basement (previous owner). I have wireless sensors in basement, 1st & 2nd floor. I'm not sure how well it picks up 1st floor, but not picking up 2nd floor at all.
I was thinking about installing a second keypad in master bdrm with receiver built-in (5001z-433) to pickup 2nd floor sensors and (because it confuses me) swapping out the 5500z for the 5501z.
Alternatively, I was thinking about repositioning the 433 receiver on the 1st floor to (hopefully pickup all three floors).
Any suggestions????
I understand there's a module placement test I could perform. I tried *8 ic 904 zone#. I thought that was supposed indicate high or low signal strength based on the 1st or 2nd light being ON (which I presume to be ready or alarm light) ...but when I do that the ready, alarm and trouble lights are all lit.

I had an installer tell me the Power632 couldn't support more than one receiver. I called DSC and they said it could. Who is right? I noticed there's a PC5320 for multiple receivers...do I need this if I use the 433 and the 5501z-433 or can they both hook right up to the 1555mx?

Yes the 5320 is a relatively recent addition. You don't get anymore zones, but it allows two receivers to act as one. I'm not 100% sure that it works with the keypad combo receivers, but I _think_ they do (we don't sell a lot of recent vintage DSC, locally)
Try relocating the existing receiver first, you may find that getting it into the middle of the house will solve the whole issue.
The trouble command is *2. If the code is an 8, set the system clock.

Ok, I'll try relocating first thanks very much for the advise. The trouble light is strange. I hit *2 and I get a blank LCD, with a blinking trouble light. I found some other post where the suggestion was to hit *8 ic 000 6 and (if 4 was shown) hit 4 to remove it. When I did that, 1-7 were shown. I hit 4 to remove it and trouble light went away....but I have no idea what that actually did.

Oh, that issue. Apparantly those fixed language LCD keypads have an unused function that defaults to on. If it is turned on, it creates a trouble light that doesn't show info on the normal trouble display.
I suspect that there was a feature that DSC intended to impliment, and changed their minds at the last minute, and simply forgot to change the default settings.
