This is probably a stupid question...thank God for the anonymity of these forums :)
I'm using Metal corner bead for the outside corners with the drywall in the basement I'm finishing. My mud job after the second coat looks surprisingly good at these outside corners. However, my method of applying compound with the knife has the mud running smoothly to the very edge of the metal bead, leaving a metal "line" at the outermost point on the corner. Is this right? Will primer/paint adhere and mask the metal?
Thanks in advance for any help...

I just wanted to add that I've never finished drywall before. Maybe I can rephrase the question: Do you need to cover ALL of the metal from the metal corner bead, or is it okay to have the outermost corner still exposed?

the corner bead is made of alum. is generally exposed and paints well, it is not neccessary [or practical] to cover it all, it will paint fine.
don't worry be happy

no questions are stupid although sometimes the answers are
