We just bought our first house, it is 75-80-Year old home. We are trying to figure out if we have hardwood under the pink carpets. From the basement there is what looks to be a hardwood floor when you look up. Is there a way for me to tell without ripping the carpet up? I pulled up a corner behind the radiator but it looked like some kind of old soft tiles under the carpet.

The only way to identify what is beneath carpet is to lift carpet in a corner to see what you have beneath it.
