Greetings,

I have a White Westinghouse Refrigerator. It has started to make a noise it sounds like a cricket chirping. It does stop for awhile and then starts again. I even hit the refrig and it would stop but start again in an awhile. I'm on a low income. I was wondering if there is anything I can do, before calling someone. It does have a icemaker but I never use it or even know how it works, its frost free and the freezer is on the top. I don't see coils in the front but I think the back. I'm not sure how old it is it belong to my grandma before I got it. I just knew it was younger then non-frost free one I had before. :) Thanks for any help I might get.

Open the freezer door the next time you hear the noise. Does the noise get louder when you do that? If so, you probably have a fan in the freezer that is going out. If that happens yor fridge will start warming up. Or it may be just a vibration noise you would have to hunt down . Scott

Thanks for the reply. No it doesn't get louder when opening the door. Actually it only does it late at night and in the morning now. I wonder if its the ice maker. Though at this point I don't even know how this thing makes ice.

Thanks

maybe its just the arm on your ice maker that tells the ice maker its full, if that arm is down and your ice maker isnt hooked up to water it will go through the motions of pushing ice out kind of like a buzzzzzzzzzzz click!
