I'm looking to replace a 15 year old electric water heater in my summer home and one contractor recommended an oil fired water model. Can anyone give me some insight into these units - efficiency, cost to operate (vs. LP or Elec.), price, etc.?

This contractor recommended a Bock - not inexpensive I'm told, but a good unit. Any thoughts on this would be helpful as well.

Thanks.

Not very familiar with this product.

I would say cost would be dictated by the cost of fuel oil and the efficiency of the way it runs.

Have a link to the product you are describing?

The main thing you want to look at is fuel cost

go http://www.warmair.net you can compare fuel cost there and that will tell you how to go. Dont forget what is the other fuel there now do you have a LP tank an oil tank?

water heater in my summer home

An oil hot water tank will work good its just do you need that much hot water it has a big output.

Thanks for your thoughts on the subject. Have previously had LP but we're not currently using it. The reason for thinking about using Oil instead of LP is to avoid introducing yet another fuel to the house.

Thanks for the link - I'll check it out.

Regards.
