Hello all. First time post. I have a craftmen 1/2 HP opener and the attached lightbulb has started shorting on and off and usually is off these days. Before I go tinkering around with wiring wanted to ask for any advice. I dont have an owners manual but I do have # 139.53615-SR. Appreciate any help.
That motor that you have is pretty old. If I would to guess it would be 10-15 years old.
The light problem you are having is a common one with craftsman machines.
In this order check the following:
1. The light bulb
2. Light bulb socket, (it should pop right out), check for corrosion.
3. the wiring to the socket.
Thats about all you can really check and if those 3 things check out ok, then the problem is on the internal circuit board of the machine.
By the way, make sure the machine is unplugged when serviceing it. :rolleyes:
