I want to preserve my pine treated deck.

Iv had a five gallon barrel of Olympic clear wood preservative in the garage left from the former home owner. Iv lived here 5 years. So its prolly at least 7-8 years.. who knows..

It also says it has a preservative to fight rot and decay.

What is the shelf life of linseed oil? Should I buy new? Its hard for me to throw away stuff.

Linssed oil will go rancid faster than other oils. But if it was kept in a tightly sealed container, it should be OK. Stir it up real good, and if it smells bad or skunky, chuck it. Personally, I wouldn't want to do a project and find out later it didn't perform as it should. I would buy new.

I'm an old Scotsman. I find it hard to discard stuff too, but consider that it is probably more expensive to try to use that old stuff than to just buy new.

The container was not tight so I will buy new since linseed will go rancid.

Iv just had a problem will living in the country of waste lately.
